WiggingOut

OrWiggingIn

By V. Martin

Or just wigging, I have the wig for you. My idea was to make a more comfortable and realistic wig. Heat. Wigs can be really hot especially for their target audience, old ladies. Don’t get offended, I’m one myself, at fifty four young it is a challenge to look good and still be comfortable. Since menopause my hair has been falling out at an alarming rate with no signs of slowing down. I am poor but vane so I needed a cheap way to get a full head of hair without it looking totally fake. Not only that I needed to stay cool or it wouldn’t work for me because comfort comes before all else. Then I remembered the old hair frosting kits and the plastic cap with the holes in it. It occurred to me that if I didn’t have to coil my hair up and pile it on top of my head then put a nylon cap over that to keep my hair under the wig, I could use the same idea of the frosting cap. So I cut holes and slits into my wig, left my hair down, then put my modified wig on. I took one of my crochet hooks and felt for the holes in the wig and hooked some of my own hair and pulled it through the hole. I kept doing this until I was sure I had my hair coming out of each hole, It was awesome. I knew instantly that I had some thing here if not I fulfilled all my requirements for having hair again. Being a Leo I need my mane. This wig can’t be pulled off, as a matter of fact, if installed correctly can be brushed and/or combed while you’re wearing it.
The more I wear it the more cool stuff I find out about it but for obvious reasons I am going to keep some of them to myself, for now.
In the spirit of giving back. A quarter of all the profits I donate to the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. Another quarter will go to funding a ranch for kids aging out of the system that have no where to go. The other half will be mine to live on and fund other projects and ideas I have.
Back to my wig. The people I hope to target the most with my wigs, besides older ladies, are theatre and movie people. Not because I want to meet Tom Cruz or anything like that, unless he needs a wig, but because I know how hot those lights can be. Not to mention the money it costs every time the director has to yell “cut” because the actor’s wig shifted. The glue isn’t as effective in the heat of the lights, my wig doesn’t have to be glued. I have never used it with my wigs, the ones I personally wear and I can bend over and flip my hair and wig without it coming off. I have tried to post video of me doing just that but no luck so far. I’ll keep trying in the mean time a couple of photos. Keep in mind that I’m no model. The first picture is me without my wig the other two are me with. Crazy, huh? The cost of one wig is $35-$40 or both for $65. These are my personal wigs the ones I have for sale are new just modified but never tried on or worn by anyone.
